Joyeuses Pâques (Happy Easter)! We celebrated this long weekend with family time, fun with friends and plenty of chocolate. So, where did French Friday fit in? It was relocated to Monday, and came in the form of a gourmet french restaurant. We were treated to an exceptional dining experience brought to life by an enthusiastic 10 year-old chef de cuisine, an efficient 6 year-old sous-chef de cuisine, and a reluctant 8 year-old maître d‘.
French toast was on the menu, along with les œuf de Pâques (Easter eggs), washed down with un verre d’eau (glass of water), un café ou un thé (coffee or tea). It was an experience enriched by orders being taken and given en français (in french).
I guess our home restaurant won’t be awarded a Michelin star any time soon, and definitely won’t be in the “lonely planet” guide for the best french cultural experience, but we loved it! It was a rewarding experience of shared french learning as a family, with the adults sharing cooking skills, while the kids shared their knowledge of french language.
Joyeuses Pâques à tout le monde !
À bientôt !
